In the 1990s, Hewlett-Packard unveiled a new line of digital oscilloscopes. They reached out to NameStormers to develop a high-tech brand name that would appeal to their engineering and technical user community while relating to the scope’s almost unlimited range of capabilities and features.
The Name
“Infinium” was ultimately chosen because of the “infinity” root word, relating to the unlimited capabilities the oscilloscope would provide its users. The “ium” suffix is usually used to form chemical element names making “Infinium” very high-tech sounding, elite, and powerful- which the product clearly lived up to!
