The Need

Casey’s is known for its pizza, particularly because of the scratch dough. This fresh dough made from Casey’s proprietary recipe takes pizza to the next level. Casey’s decided to use that same great dough to create the perfect, handheld sandwich that can be filled with warm breakfast, lunch or dinner ingredients, and they needed a catchy, brandlike name to make it sound craveable.

The Name

With the goal of conveying a warm, craveable, handheld sandwich, we knew the name would have to be coined but suggestive. Toastwich proved to be the perfect mash-up conveying breakfast, warmth, convenience, and deliciousness, while also only being two syllables.

The Result

Six months after launching, the Toastwich was credited with invigorating Casey’s breakfast menu. Hot breakfast sandwich sales jumped nearly 49%, and breakfast daypart sales were up 17% from the same period a year ago.
