The Client
Virbac is an animal health pharmaceutical company that specializes in dental, medicine, and supplements for dogs, cats, and ferrets in the United States. Virbac was founded with a desire to provide veterinarians, farmers and pet owners worldwide with a set of innovative solutions to fight animal diseases.
The Need
Virbac needed a naming agency to help them name their newest cat dental treatment. These new cat bites work with a cat’s natural chewing action to help reduce plaque and tartar buildup. This new product easily beats the competition with less calories per bite than most other brands, it supports gum health in addition to teeth and fresh breath and requires less bites to work than other brands. Virbac wanted their new product name to communicate these differentiating factors and show pet-owners and veterinarians that these new cat bites are an all-around smarter choice than what is already out there.
The Name
NameStormers got right to brainstorming hundreds of names for these cat bites, prescreened the best for trademark issues, and presented two rounds of viable names to the Virbac team. The team chose their favorite name from the first round, “IntelliDent”. IntelliDent clearly communicates that this product is for dental health and that it is the smartest choice for cats, cat owners and veterinarians. It also suggests that the time and effort put into innovating this new treatment was done with great expertise and intelligence. The name ultimately says, “you’re an intelligent and caring cat owner, so you choose IntelliDent”. The name IntelliDent also provided fun opportunities for an incredible logo, which our NameStormers team also created for Virbac.
The Results
Virbac launched their new cat bites in October of 2020 and are excited to “outsmart” the competition, but more importantly, provide cat owners and veterinarians with a feline dental chew that works quickly, produces results you can see, and makes cats happy and healthy!
