Sage Capital Bank

Sage Capital Bank

The Need

In 2008, American National Bank began to explore additional opportunities for growth and discovered that there were over 150 banks throughout Texas with some variation of an “American Bank” name. With that in mind, they decided to change their name. They wanted a name that would eliminate customer confusion with similarly named banks and build a strong, unique brand. NameStormers tailored our approach to their needs, starting with a proven process that has worked well for many brick & mortar renaming projects.

We asked lots of questions, studied the market, developed a naming brief, and refined it with the American National team. We understood that they needed a distinctive name that had more gravitas and that related well to their financial knowledge and regional focus. We developed hundreds of names, pre-screened the best for trademark and web hits & presented names with tag lines and rationale.

The Name

To better reflect their Texas values, Texas roots and their mission as a community bank, they chose a name they could stand behind with pride. “Sage Capital Bank” brought to mind the qualities of native Texas sage – a shrub that is strong, resilient and native to the land. But sage also refers to knowledge, wisdom, and experience – someone revered for wisdom and good judgment. To better communicate these traits, their new name was paired with the tagline, “Financial Wisdom. Texas Roots.”

The Result

American National Bank was a name that served them well for 25 years. However, the new name reflects the same values but also separates them from the crowd. Today the bank has Texas branch locations in Gonzales, Lockhart, Luling, New Braunfels, San Marcos, Shiner, and Spring Branch. Sage Capital Bank is a bank that will be your trusted financial advisor and knowledgeable partner, a bank that will be there right with you in good times as well as the tougher ones.
